Why we did it

The Greater Sydney Urban Development Program (UDP) is the NSW Government’s program for monitoring housing and employment land supply and assisting infrastructure coordination in Greater Sydney.

One of the key aims of the UDP is to provide access to transparent and detailed urban development data to improve the quality of the evidence base used by stakeholders; promote broader engagement between industry and government; and improve the coordination of infrastructure servicing.

The NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment sought to create an online dashboard that would bring together, for the first time, government data on housing, employment and infrastructure. They needed the dashboard to be created in PowerBI to allow them to easily update the data, but the also needed it to have seamless user experience.

What we delivered

Truii partnered with our friends at Mosaic Insights to design and build a visually dynamic, web-based, urban development dashboard.

We conducted thorough user research with key industry and government stakeholders to determine the various user needs. The results of this research were used to design a dashboard product that would push the limits of what is possible in Power BI.

The final product, the Greater Sydney Urban Development Program dashboard, uses maps and dynamic data visualisations to showcase the latest data and insights related to housing supply, demand and forecasts, greenfield development and market trends. This unique product is a game-changer for industry.
